A Most Outstanding Apprentice A Most Outstanding Apprentice Bega Cheese is thrilled at the recognition received by one of its staff members at a ceremony in Canberra last week. At the Canberra Institute of Technology Awards held in Canberra on 12th May 2011, Bega Cheese’s 3rd Year Apprentice, Nicholas Brown was presented with the Most Outstanding Apprentice Award (Stage 2) by Sue Charnock, Manager of Capitol Skills. The Most Outstanding Apprentice award is teacher‐nominated and the successful nominee must be unanimously supported by all teachers. Nominations taken into consideration factor such things as aptitude, skill development, and attendance. The awards evening was attended by Ross Brown (Maintenance Supervisor) and Todd Campbell (Maintenance Planner) on behalf of Bega Cheese. Nicholas’ Supervisor, Ross Brown said, “From day one of his apprenticeship, Nick has shown a real flair and interest in his chosen career. He readily accepts challenges and generally exhausts all avenues before asking for assistance. Nick’s motivation and the skill level applied to his work is recognised by his colleagues and being recognised as outstanding amongst his industry peers is well deserved.” Nick Brown commenced with Bega Cheese at the Lagoon Street facility in February 2009 as an Apprentice Fitter and Turner. Prior to gaining his apprenticeship, Nick worked part time outside school hours on his family’s farm and also completed work experience in the Bega Cheese Farm Services department. Bega Cheese is delighted to acknowledge Nick’s accomplishments and together with his colleagues, extend our congratulations on his achievements.
