The Dairy Industry Association of Australia’s Awards of Excellence is an annual celebration of the
best in Australian Dairy Products. Held this year at the historic Melbourne Plaza Ballroom both
Bega cheese and Bega’s subsidiary Tatura Milk Industries were well represented and awarded a
clutch of awards and highly sought after Trophies.
In all Bega Cheese won 20 Awards for its range of products and importantly was also recognised
for excellence in manufacturing taking out 3 trophies, being the Tetra Pak Perpetual Trophy for the
highest aggregate scoring cheddar cheese awarded for cheese manufactured at the NSW Factory,
the Amcor Flexibles Award, for the highest scoring semi‐matured cheddar cheese and the J
Sharkey Memorial Trophy for the highest scoring vintage cheddar cheese, the last two awards
were presented for products manufactured at Bega’s recently acquired cheese manufacturing
facility in North Coburg, Melbourne.
Commenting on the results of the awards ceremony, Bega Cheese CEO Aidan Coleman said “The
DIAA Awards of Excellence is one of the most prestigious dairy product competitions in Australia
and to receive the awards and trophies that we have across both of our cheese manufacturing
facilities demonstrates the quality and consistency of the products that Bega Cheese produces – a
tremendous result and testament to the capabilities of our suppliers and staff alike”
