Joining the Bega Group through the RISE Graduate Program over 18 months ago, Georgia Pearson, Logistics & Supply Chain Graduate shared a little about the opportunities that have cropped up for her at the Bega Group RISE Graduate Program

I have been fortunate enough to start my career with the Bega Group within the RISE Graduate Program, which is synonymous with how the Group supports growth. It is a valuable opportunity for recent graduates to enter the workforce and apply their studies. This is achieved through on-the-job learning and formal learning initiatives such as the #heartLEADER program as well as a formal mentoring program.

For me, the Graduate Program was a stepping stone into the workforce. The program has provided me exposure to various aspects of the Bulk Nutritionals and Ingredients business unit, and I have been able to gradually grow my understanding of the business along with my skills.

I have rotated through three temporary positions as part of the Graduate Program. In the first rotation, I developed project management skills working on a Supply Chain Transformation project, this was a highlight for me and stirred an interest in working on projects moving forward as I enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team towards a common goal. My second rotation was purchasing materials for the infant formula canning production and my final rotation is as a supply chain analyst working on aged inventory.

The program has offered opportunities to be mentored by experienced members of the business, develop my leadership skills, and understand my strengths and weaknesses through the Gallup Strengths survey.

My advice for others wanting to grow their career with the Bega Group

Have open conversations with your leader about your career goals and how to achieve them. Actively explore the opportunities available for personal development through the Bega Group training programs and courses. I think it is also important to surround yourself with people who encourage your development.

As a recent graduate, I was anxious about getting into the industry and workforce so seeing the opportunity of the RISE Graduate Program at the Bega Group attracted me. Based on my own experiences the best piece of advice that I would share for those considering a career at the Bega Group, is to make connections and be open to all opportunities.

Besides being part of a company that brings such iconic Australian brands to customers, it is the people I get to work with. Colleagues have genuine care for each other and are invested in fostering relationships. So many people have supported my development here in the organisation and this has been the most impactful aspect of my time here so far.

In my experience they also encourage internal career advancements with regular announcements of opportunities across the business; this fosters the opportunity for growth and progression whilst staying within the company.
